October has been a great month! Getting quite a lot of painting done (for my standards at least), having finally finished the Blood Angels Death Company and having a great time at Scale Model Challenge 2012. Best of Summer 2012

Amazing how fast the last couple of months went by. With a lot of rainy weather most of the summer wasn't really a summer, but the shortening of days now proofs to me that it is indeed coming to an end.

Highlight of this year's summer was obviously my trip to the German Games Day. A very inspirational journey indeed! But looking at some links as they were posted on my Facebook page shows that there has been a lot of great painting going on as well:

Scarface and Cordelia by Angel Giráldez
Chaos Lord by C'tan
Khador Heavy Warjack by Steel Demons
Hound of Scathach by Ringil

Best of March 2012

When I look at the list below I think the best news of March 2012 was the information about two very interesting projects which are currently under development: Confrontation: Phoenix Edition, which will mark the return of an active ruleset and (hopefully) affordable re-releases of their miniatures. The other interesting news is a new game called "Wrath of Kings", which is developed under the wings of CoolMiniOrNot. Very interesting times ahead indeed!

Best of December 2011

Releases

Steampunk fairy by Guild of Harmony. Way too much fiddly details on there to suit my taste, but the sculpt itself is very impressive.
Jabba the Hutt by Knight Models. Not something I'd buy because of the scale (70mm) but still a breathtaking piece!
Helloween Witch by Kabuki Models. Sexy :)
Flytrap Factory, a new manufacturer from New Zealand, takes a very strong start. Check them out if you are into mouslings :)
CMON Annual 2010, I'll get this

Paintjobs

Impressive Kingdom Death conversion on a truly unique base concept, by SuoU.
Black Templar squad by Flameon.
Khador Army in 300 style.
Sardar Tillius by emuse.

Inspiration

Abandoned Chinese theme park "Wonderland".
Industrial Decay Network: a collection of artistic pictures made inside old factories etc.

Best of November 2011

General:

Entering a commissioned piece in a GD competition, more an "epic fail" than a "best of", but it happened in Australia.

Amazing freehand work explained by Stephan Rath (derwish).

A great tutorial on how to paint metallics, not new, but found it recently and it's really something I wanted to share.

Step by step guide on how to paint the Steam Guardian Rackham classic.

Abyssal Warlord by SCALE75. I'm not into larger scale models, but this one is pretty awesome.

Paintjobs:

Outnumbered by Crackpot.

Chaos Sorcerer by AlexiZ. Be sure to watch in HD.

Arjac Rockfist by razza (Darren Latham), a paintjob bordering on perfection.

Lord Carver by Piranha, not a fan of the sculpt, but the NMM on it is really amazing.

Best of October 2011

Good thing last month some winners from the UK Games Day decided to put their own pictures of their figures online, because GW's pictures didn't give a realistic view on the competition entries as usual. Another noteworthy competition was Hussar in Poland, and of course DUZI, of which you can read a report on this very blog.

Here are the interesting links for October 2011:

Space Girl by CoolMiniOrNot, limited edition goodness.

Red Box Games' zombies, awesome sculpts for a very fair price.

Sometimes you are doubtful about a new product, but then you come along a good, clear review to take away the doubts. Looks like GW's liquid green stuff is quite useful in some areas.

Steve Buddle's entry for the UK GD, that sculpted zombie cow should be made into a real model.

Banshee by automaton, crazy checkerboard pattern!

Domaru (Infinity) by Avicenna.

Faerie Wears Boots by Tooshy.

Overview of all 2011 Slayer Sword winners. France is my favorite, which one is yours?

Painting video by Andrea, amazing how a video like this can make our hobby look so easy :)

Luicien Sforza, new Infnity miniature painted by Angel Giraldez, one of his best works in my opinion.

Hussar 2011 painting competition report, very serious competition painting going on in Poland.

Speaking of Hussar 2011, here are some extra shots of the gold winner of the diorama category.

Best of September 2011

If you are subscribed to Corvus' Miniatures on facebook then you will already know I post interesting links now and then, ranging from articles to painted miniatures on CMON. But since the majority of the readers on this blog aren't on facebook, I'd like to make a post at the end of every month including some of the more interesting links I've stumbled upon during that month.

I'm not going to bother putting them in a particular order, I think each link describes its content pretty well. Let me know if you found this entertaining or not.

Amazing freehand combined with a very realistic transparency effect, especially the cloth lying on the floor.

"The Taming", great concept, bronze Golden Demon at GD Spain 2011.

The Tuto-Thèque, a library of miniature painting tutorials, brought to my attention by Massive Voodoo. Quite a valuable resource!

Very good picture report of this years GD UK, by Cédric Lurkin.

Confrontation re-release by CMON. Great news, I thought, until I noticed the price :( Worth mentioning anyway.

Epic tutorial on how Raffa's 2010 GD Germany Slayer Sword winner came to be.
